Business Awards

Young women who are starting up in business in the Merseyside, Cheshire or Lancashire areas are being given the opportunity to receive an extra cash boost following the launch of a new joint initiative by Train 2000 and the Prince's Trust.

Train 2000, the Centre for Women's Enterprise and Employment, which provides free business advice and training to women throughout Merseyside, has teamed up with the Prince's Trust to offer would-be businesswomen a grant of £500.

This latest initiative, which aims to encourage more young women into self-employment, will target 18 to 30 year olds who are currently unemployed.

Unemployed women accessing Train 2000 services, who have a sound business idea, may be eligible to apply for both the POWER Loan Fund and Princes Trust Loan funding totalling up to £7,500 as well as the £500 grant, providing an excellent start for any entrepreneur.

Helen Milne, Operations Director for Train 2000, said:

"Young women who come to Train 2000 to develop their business idea and produce a business plan, and who are eligible to apply for Prince's Trust funding will now have the opportunity of receiving a grant of £500 if their application is successful."

"This is an excellent opportunity for women starting up in business as this extra £500 will undoubtedly prove to be very useful, in paying for more training, marketing or any other costs incurred during the early stages of self-employment."

Amanda Smith, Area Manager for the Prince's Trust in Liverpool, added:

"We are extremely pleased that the Prince's Trust has been able to team up with Train 2000 on this new project.

"It is hoped that by working together and offering more incentives to potential women entrepreneurs, we will be able to assist and encourage more women than ever before to consider self-employment as a viable option."
